Samutsongkhram province is located in Central Region of Thailand, has the important river "Maeklong River" flows through and then into the Gulf of Thailand, just 60 km from Bangkok, is the land of Thai civilization from the early Rattanakosin period which has the way of Thai lifestyle of the community the river along to the present time. It still has fertility nature, fits and convenient for everyone are resting and visiting. Besides, there are many wonderful things and interesting activities for the one who passes by search such as, Thai style house, Homestays, Mud-sliding Boards, planting mangrove trees, traveling by boat to see fireflies, fiddler crabs on the bank of the canal. Crab-eating macaque that inhabits the mangrove forest, Don Hoi Lod, and you will find that the real happiness of nature, waterway, and the old Thai lifestyle can cure the weariness and increase wonderfully the strength to your life.
Samutsongkhram is the smallest province in Thailand, but it is the big province for conserving the cultures of the Thai nation. It is called "The Land of History with the intelligence of King Rama II who has been praised as one of the world's most important person by UNESCO". For him who knew the value of the arts and cultures, for his renovation of many branches of Thai art, sculpture, architecture, drama, and literature, all of them are still in Maeklong. So the people built the King Rama II Memorial Park to honor this memory. Tip: Samutsongkhram is a too long name so Thai people or Locals always call only "Maeklong" because of the name of the downtown area is in Maeklong sub-district.
