House of Siamese Cats or Baan Meaw Thai
Baan Maew Thai is a place for cat lovers. It is located in Amphawa district, Samut Songkhram. The place conserves authentic species of 5 famous Siamese cats including Wichienmas, Korat, Supaluk and Gon Jaa and white cats.
1. Siamese cat - Siamese cat is a cat in the royal court because it is considered a lucky cat. The specific characteristic is bright blue eyes, cream hair, dark spots, also known as lacquered spots on the face and body total 9 positions. In 1884, King Rama V gave this kind of pair of cats to British Consul General, his name is "Owen Gould". Later, this pair of cats won the cat contest in London. In addition, King Rama V also gave Thai cats to other countries, such as America, until the cat was famous all over the world. Siamese cat is the first Thai cat known in Western.
2. Srisawad or Korat cat (Silver Blue) - The origin is found at Phimai, Nakhon Ratchasimaa province. The cat that was used in the parade for asking for the rain in ancient times because of the hair color is like clouds and yellow eyes. Ancient people have believed that is a lucky cat and will bring happiness to the people. This kind of cats has won the world championship in 1960 in the United States.
3. Supaluck is also called copper cat - a copper cat has a medium shape, moderate weight, modest body, Long leg slender plump feet. The head is quite round, with dark brown hairs like copper, yellow or amber-colored eyes, and areas of the body, such as the face, ears, legs, and tail, are a darker brown than the general body. The word "Supaluck", which means "GOOD". It is said that this cat is a cat that has tracked the owner of a Thai who was taken a prisoner of war in Burma. When popularity is more widespread, the foreigners have been registered as a cat of the world. The name is "Burmese", but it is known that the origin in Thailand.
4. Konjar or Black Cat - Black short hair and the eyes are bright yellow or green, round head but not large, shape, long tail, straight tail, and elegant while moving. It is similar to another breed of cat species is Bombay.
5. Khawmanee or Pure White - White hair, blue or yellow eyes or two color eyes. It is the most common breeds today. It is believed that the cat was born in the early Rattanakosin era. The cat is quite tame and good for a friend as well.

Baan Maew Thai was open to the public in 2001 according to Samutsongkhram’s policy to turn this place into the tourist attraction and cat exhibition.
