There are 3 districts which are Muang, Amphawa, Bang Khon Thi.
Locals always call "Maeklong" replace Samutsongkhram because it is too long.
Maeklong is the name of western's main River in Thailand, Name of Downtown area of Samutsongkhram, Main Market, and the Railway Station.
So if you need to go "Amphawa", but tell the driver "Maeklong", he will send you to a downtown, not Amphawa.
Amphawa is one of the districts, Amphawa is not Downtown of Samutsongkhram. The fresh-food market, Supermarket, any shops are still in the Downtown so most of the people have to go to the Downtown every week or every day.
Amphawa is only far 7 km from Maeklong (Downtown).
