Thai Dessert Museum in King Rama II Memorial Park, Samutsongkhram, Thailand
Thai Dessert Museum is located in King Rama II Memorial Park which is next to Amphawa floating market, Amphawa district, Samutsongkhram province. It is the pavilion that is in front of the King Rama II Memorial Park. The pavilion has been renovated from an antique Thai House which is over 100 years old.
The museum is divided into two parts. The upper floor displays models of foods and desserts in the era of Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, and Rattanakosin. There is also knowledge of ingredients, preparations, products which are used in desserts, and various tools which are made the foods and desserts.
The lower floor is the part of the exhibition displays vehicles which were used to sell desserts in the past, such as a trailer tricycle and hawking baskets. Also on display are models of boats with an array of food and desserts where visitors can sit and even act as vendors at a floating market.
Furthermore, Samutsongkhram has been encouraged the granddaughter of HM, the king, to preserve those traditional desserts that became popular during the reign of King Rama II. These include Khanom Jamongkut, Crown Sweet, Thong Ake, Sampanni, Sanechan and Kulap Chao Wang (Rose Palace Rice).

The art of Thai dessert making has a long and proud in Samutsongkhram. They have worked hard to preserve this cultural tradition. There are now many housewives cooperative producing the sweets such as Khanom Chan, Thong Yip, Thong Yawt, Khanom Kluey, Jamokkut, and Latieng. Especially, Lawtchawng Samunphrai (Herbal sweetmeat with coconut) which is an exported product for foreign countries.
